I am a public school teacher and I am always delighted to receive a Kelowna Waldorf graduate into my classroom. It is my experience that Kelowna Waldorf students are a very unique breed in that they are generally very grounded and mature individuals. They bring with them a level of self awareness that we should all aspire to.

This will be our fourth year at KWS in September and I am so grateful for everything the Waldorf organization has done for our entire family. Besides the wonderfully engaging and creative curriculum that my daughter has embraced and thrived in, the sense of community, team building and cooperation among parents and faculty is beyond compare. It's because of this that it saddens me to see such slanderous (and some transparent) reviews from former parents. Waldorf's founding father would be the first to point out that this type of education is not for the closed-minded. There is no room for pettiness and vengefulness in a Waldorf conscience. It is a system of compassion, inclusiveness and generosity of spirit. It is also one where human weakness is acknowledged and forgiven. So in keeping with this, I hope that all potential future KWS parents will take in to account ALL of these reviews with an open mind and dig deeper than Google's shallow surface to find the truth. If Waldorf is for your family, you'll know it in your heart :)

I have been so intrigued by the many Waldorf grads that have come through my classroom over the years that I have begun studying the fundamentals of Waldorf Education and have imparted many concepts within my own teachings in my public school realm.

When it comes to academics, I am always impressed by their keenness and their refreshing attitude toward learning, which sadly you just don’t see that often in students that have come through the mainstream setting. These children also have a multi dimensional foundation and advanced knowledge base that often leads to them skipping ahead a grade or a level once they begin in our school.

The Kelowna Waldorf School is a quality education with good hearted, caring educators. Children receive an artistic, developmentally based education that integrates the whole child. The celebrations and festivals offer community and connection for families. The curriculum encourages the growth of individual strengths and confidence in the children. Many positives to explore in this school!

It difficult to read what's happened to the School that I remember with nothing but love. While it's been over 10 years since I left, I'm blown away at how things could have gotten to the point they got to, with students and teachers leaving alike. This paints the unjust image that Waldorf education is bad, where in reality those teaching, having simply strayed from the path.

Waldorf education taught me to love, to care, to be kind. To have empathy, to fix things when they're broken, not to simply buy something new. I was Taught how to knit, to sew, how to bake Bread. Plant a Garden, take care of that garden, and reap it's rewards. My best friend is still my best friend today. Waldorf read me stories, showed me that Dragon's DO exist, but that you don't need shining armour to defeat them.

In lieu of the recent Castanet news, I feel obligated to write this review, as I was a student at the Kelowna Waldorf School from Grades 1 - 8.

It's sad whenever a negative change happens to a place you love, and I hope that the Kelowna Waldorf School goes back to it's roots and is restored to the place it was. Waldorf Education is brilliant, and I encourage you not to let those wanting to take it in a different direction, to taint that image. Thanks.

He can definitely get under my skin as he will not back down from a point of view unless you have a solid argument as to why he needs to change his, because I said so, is not enough. Having the ability to question authority In a respectful way takes courage and tremendous self confidence which he has.

I recommend this school to anyone who wants a child who is able to assess the information presented to them and make their own decisions. Also with the self assuredness to question their teachers and others on differing points of view. I believe with the education and foundation given to him at the Kelowna Waldorf School, he will always be a leader and not a blind follower as so many are in society today.
